Guanacaste is a city in the northwest of Costa Rica. It is a very interesting area, since despite being the second largest region in the country, it is the region with the least population. It is mostly recognized for its beautiful beaches and the biodiversity that makes it up.

The currency in Costa Rica is the Costa Rican Colon. We recommend you take dollars and exchange them at the airport or at the exchange office located in the city.

How to move in Guanacaste?

To transport you from the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport to any of the beautiful beaches of Guanacaste. Depending on the distance you can take a taxi to the bus terminal and then take a bus to the beach of interest. The cost of the taxi will be around $ 11,162 Costa Rican colones ($ 18 USD).

Another means of transportation is the public bus, which can take you from the airport to the center of the city of Tamarindo, for example, it costs around 130 Costa Rican colones ($ 2.10 USD approx.). There are also other more comfortable bus lines that can cost around 2,600 Costa Rican colones ($ 4 USD).
Lastly, you can rent a car from 6,201 Costa Rican colones ($ 10 USD). These prices vary according to the type of vehicle, number of days, among others.
