How to move in Punta del Este?

The Peninsula is less than a kilometer wide, which allows you to explore it perfectly on foot. There are cheap local buses between Maldonado and Punta del Este, and others that take you to La Barra and José Ignacio. If you want to go on long walks, it is best to rent a car. Taxis are more expensive than in other parts of Uruguay and generally have to be called by phone, but they are a good option for a night out.
